American Airlines said Friday that it will begin accepting applications Monday from flight attendants who want to take the “voluntary early out program,” or VEOP.

All applications have to in by Thursday, Sept. 20, the airline said.

“We are pleased that the ratified agreement with our flight attendants allowed us to offer this option, which may eliminate the need for furloughs as we implement the productivity changes we need to restructure,” spokesman Bruce Hicks said.
