In the wake of the Transit Workers Union’s release of its US Airways term sheets, American Airlines spokesman Bruce Hicks issued this statement:

“As we’ve said from the start, American Airlines’ goal is to reach consensual agreements with all of our unions. That’s why we’ve worked hard with the TWU over the last several weeks on proposals that meet the company’s necessary cost savings and address many of the TWU’s concerns. Our settlement proposals, which we expect the TWU will make public in a few days, will save more than 3,000 jobs.”

The TWU has said members will vote in early May on American’s last contract offer, which has been revised from its Feb. 1 proposal.

Neither the US Airways nor the revised American order would keep the Fort Worth Alliance maintenance base open, but both would reduce the number of job cuts at the Tulsa base.
