Beverly Goulet, the most overworked executive in the airline industry, has been rewarded for her efforts.

Goulet was named senior vice president and chief integration officer at American Airlines on Thursday, a promotion from her position of vice president of corporate development and treasurer.

We say “overworked” because Goulet was given the job just over 15 months ago to be the chief restructuring officer at American and AMR. That meant she had to make sure the bankruptcy reorganization that began Nov. 29, 2011, moved along smartly with as few hitches as possible.

That job is in the home stretch. But last week, Goulet was named American’s leader of the transition team for the American-US Airways merger, with US Airways president Scott Kirby as the US Airways counterpart. So she’s got another mountain to climb.

“For American, Bev has led the most successful airline restructuring in history, resulting in savings of more than $2 billion across the enterprise, and also played the lead role in the merger evaluation process,” American’s chairman and CEO, Tom Horton, said in the announcement.

“Bev is a talented leader who will play a significant leadership role in helping to establish a framework for the new American to be very successful,” Horton said.

In an internal message to AA employees, Horton said Goulet will report directly to him. “The Corporate Development team will continue to report to Bev and work directly on the integration efforts,” he said in his message.

American’s managing director of fleet development, Peter Warlick, was promoted to vice president and treasurer to replace Goulet.
