Flight cancellations pass 1,800 as storm hits the Northeast

FlightStats.com says airlines have canceled 1,848 flights as as they deal with the nor’easter rolling across the Northeast. FlightAware.com’s count is a bit higher: 1,861. FlightAware.com in its afternoon update  put the number of North American flight cancellations tied to Hurricane Sandy at 18,100. That’s from Sunday through Wednesday. That includes 7,043 flights canceled Tuesday as of its 3 p.m. CDT analysis, with New York LaGuardia and Newark each having around 1,200 cancellations. Monday night update: Hurricane Sandy flight cancellations top 13,000
